Bob and Gene Garrison Wood Memorial Scholarship
The Bob and Gene Garrison Wood Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 by Joe and Melanie Wood ‘76 Cavanaugh to honor Melanie’s parents who met at Asbury. The scholarship is based on need and awards $12,500 to one male and one female student each year for 4 years.
Impact
Bob and Gene Garrison Wood met at Asbury and married shortly after graduation in 1952. They began life together as preacher and teacher moving to North Carolina, Kansas, Indiana and Kentucky adding 4 children along the way. Their love and devotion to Asbury and its misson never waned. Over 20 Wood/Garrison family members spanning 3 generations have so far attended Asbury. To honor Bob and Gene’s enduring love for and belief in Asbury’s desire to bring the whole Gospel to the whole world, this scholarship is being given by their family to enable and equip others to have that same opportunity to serve God wherever He may lead.
